Jigsaw Board Director

The Board of Jigsaw is now seeking to fill a current vacancy by a young person aged between 25 and 30 years.

Essential Criteria:

  • Be aged between 25 and 30 years of age
  • Passionate about supporting young people with their mental health and achieving change in Irish society
  • Candidates must have sufficient time available to fulfill the role

Desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge and expertise of current and future social media trends
  • Knowledge of the youth mental health area and of the work of Jigsaw

Main Responsibilities:

The Jigsaw Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the proper management of the organisation.  In particular it has a collective responsibility for:

  • Acting in the best interests of Jigsaw and for the users of their services and their staff
  • Ensuring that appropriate clinical and professional governance arrangements are in place
  • Providing strategic guidance
  • Monitoring the activities and effectiveness of the CEO and management team
  • Ensuring effective systems are in place for identifying and managing risk
  • Ensuring the adequacy of internal financial controls
  • Accounting accurately to the State and other funders of its activities.

Members of the Board of Directors work in a voluntary capacity and do not receive any remuneration in respect of their services to Jigsaw. Directors should act on an informed basis, in good faith, with due diligence and care, and in the best interests of Jigsaw to ensure that public monies are applied for the purpose they have been provided.

The Time Commitment

  • In addition to the meetings below, preparatory reading will be required
  • At least six scheduled meetings per annum
  • Membership of other Board Subcommittees as required (approximately four meetings per annum)

In addition, where possible, Board members are encouraged to participate in

  • Visits to local Jigsaw services
  • Attendance at occasional events, training and seminars

Term of Appointment

The Board member will be appointed for a term of three years with an option to extend this term.

In order to qualify for appointment a person must not have any conflict of interest likely to interfere with his/her ability to assume the role of Board member of Jigsaw.

Selection Process

Vacant posts on the Jigsaw Board will be publicly advertised on the Jigsaw website www.jigsaw.ie and other relevant websites.

A short list of prospective candidates will be drawn up and a meeting may be held with candidates as part of the selection process.

Administrator - Jigsaw Dublin City

Jigsaw Dublin City is expanding & we are seeking an experienced & youth-friendly Administrator to work alongside the existing Administrator as the first point of contact for young people calling to the hub & to provide administrative support to the Jigsaw Dublin City team. 

Applications are welcomed from canddiates with a recognised office administration training course to a minimum standard of FETAC level 5 and a minimum of two years post qualification office experience OR a relevant third level degree and a minimum of one year’s relevant post qualification experience.

Youth and Community Engagement Worker - Jigsaw Dublin City

Jigsaw Dublin City is expanding & we are now seeking a Youth & Community Engagement Worker (YCEW) to work alongside the existing YCEW to creatively engage young people & those working with young people in supporting & promoting youth mental health.

Applications are welcome from candidates holding a degree or equivalent in community development, youth work or in a relevant health, education or social sector discipline with a minimum of two years’ experience in developing and implementing programmes relevant to the youth and community sector.

Research & Evaluation Officer (fixed purpose, ending June 2018)

Jigsaw’s programme of research and evaluation aims to determine young people’s mental health needs, assure quality programming, and assess outcomes. The Research and Evaluation Officer will have responsibility for supporting the research coordinator and the rest of the team in the implementation of Jigsaw’s research and evaluation strategy. Applications are welcome from candidates holding a minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology or social science with 2yrs+ experience in a research/evaluation based role.

Project Manager - Jigsaw Kerry

The Project Manager will work as part of a collaborative leadership team alongside the Clinical Coordinator & will be primarily responsible for the operational implementation of the Jigsaw Kerry. Applications are welcomed from candidates holding a relevant third level qualification, with 5yrs+ management experience in a relevant sector, including 3yrs+ experience managing a team in a human service delivery context.
