Being Active - #MyWee5
October 05th 2018
As part of the #MyWee5 campaign the clinical team here in Jigsaw Donegal have put together a short blog on each of the FIVE-A-DAY. This week, for World Mental Health Week, we will look at a different piece each day.
So make sure and keep an eye for them over the week on Facebook and don’t forget to like and share!
Today we will focus in on BE ACTIVE, completed by one of our Clinical Team.
When it comes to maintaining good mental health, staying active is a must!
While we all know regular exercise benefits our bodies including our heart, lungs and muscles, it also releases important endorphins, or ‘feel good chemicals’ which act as natural anti-depressants. Aerobic exercise, such as running or swimming, is a great way to stimulate these endorphins.
But staying active doesn’t always have to mean hitting the gym - joining a sports team or club, climbing a mountain, or taking part in a charity run or cycle are all ways that we can stay active while also connecting with others and having some fun in the process. Why not get together with some friends to stay active this week? Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Use the #MyWee5 to spread creative ideas on how to stay active.
