“We feel we have done something great”
When we were told about the Youth Advisory Panel we wanted to take part straight away as we felt it was a brilliant opportunity to make our voices be heard and to work with other young people who also felt strongly about the issues facing young people all around Ireland today. We felt we would make the youth look better than people think we are.
It’s not often that we young people get to have a real say in the way young people are viewed and looked after and I saw it as a great opportunity and one that couldn’t be missed. As we take part in different events we feel more proud of ourselves and feel we have done something great. As we do good, kind and nice things we noticed that the older people took notice us more and respected it. This showed that young people don’t always do negative things when we are in big groups. We aren’t all as bad as they put us out to be.
We are better than that and Jigsaw Kerry provides that opportunity.
