Jigsaw is an innovative new community-based system of care, developed by Headstrong; the National Centre for Youth Mental Health that supports young people aged 12-25 to achieve better mental health and wellbeing. The Jigsaw model aspires to place the needs and energies of young people and the wider local community at the heart of the thinking and planning of the model. It aims to integrate and harness the best of mental health expertise and supports for young people that are already available within the community. It also seeks to design and implement innovative, evidence-based programmes, policies and practices so that young people are better able to seek help and support in accessible settings where they feel respected and safe.
The Clinical Co-ordinator will play a key role in working with the Project Manager in implementing key elements of the business and operations plans which have a clinical focus.
Reporting Relationship
As the initiative has a number of key partners there will be different reporting relationships between each of the partners.
Clinical Coordinator reports to Project Manager for operational matters and is responsible to Clinical Governance Team
Nominated person within the HSE to provide HSE clinical input and supervision
Salary Range On request
Contract Period Minimum of one year contract with prospect of continuing subject to funding. This position may be filled on a full time or part time basis.
Purpose of the Post
Working closely with colleagues, the clinical sub-group, the management committee in Jigsaw Kerry and Headstrong to provide overall clinical leadership for the project, including:

• Supporting its strategic development and clinical governance
• Building local mental health knowledge and capacity in front-line service providers
• Provision of clinical consultation and support for those workers engaged with the Jigsaw initiative
• Integrate best-practice approaches to working with young people with emerging mental health problems
• Support and enhance service integration
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Professional/Clinical
• Provide therapeutic interventions and supports for young people in settings which work for young people i.e. Jigsaw youth space
• Support the development of clear, accessible and acceptable referral pathways for young people who present with emotional and psychological needs
• In partnership with Headstrong, support the delivery of the Youth Centred Practice training to front-line Workers in identified communities within the County
• Provide clinical advice, support, consultation and supervision as appropriate to those Workers engaged with Jigsaw Kerry from youth, education, community and health agencies relevant to their work with young people.
• Deliver Mental Health Awareness Training to target audiences across the County/designated area.
• To enhance the accessibility of mental health and related services to vulnerable young people in an integrated, accessible and non–stigmatising manner (i.e. inreach/outreach)
Service System Reform
• To work with the Jigsaw Project Manager in determining levels of need and priorities for service delivery by consulting with community organisations and statutory agencies relating to young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
• To integrate Jigsaw with existing strategies that are relevant to young people (e.g. Vision for Change, Primary Care Strategies, National Counselling Strategy, Reach Out)
• To develop an integrated approach where communication with other agencies enhance youth mental health and provide integrated intervention pathways between agencies
• Promote integration between multiple services and disciplines to provide better, more rounded care to young people, including HSE (in particular CMHTs and PCTs) and community services
Education and Training
• Ensure that those delivering services for the Jigsaw initiative are effectively trained, developed and supported to allow them to provide appropriate interventions
• Participate in ongoing professional development including clinical supervision and relevant training
• Participate in the Jigsaw Learning Network
• Provide training to those connected to the Jigsaw initiative in consultation with the Headstrong Training Co-ordinator
Research and Evaluation
• Contribute and participate in the Jigsaw evaluation process
• Take a lead role in the management of the Online Data Management System which has been specifically developed by Headstrong for the Jigsaw initiative
Administration
• Prepare appropriate reports for the Jigsaw Kerry Project Manager and the clinical sub-group as appropriate
• To ensure high standard best practice clinical systems, policies and protocols are in place
• To actively participate in team meetings and other Jigsaw meetings as required
• To be flexible regarding working hours in line with the needs of the project (incorporating late evening and possible week-end work)
• Any other duties as determined by the Project Manager and/or Clinical sub-group
Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications and/ or experience
Candidates must possess:

(i) A recognised professional qualification in psychology (clinical or counselling), nursing, social work or a related clinical discipline with expertise in mental health.
And
(ii) 5 years or more (inclusive of postgraduate professional training) relevant experience in clinical service delivery,
ideally with young people, and have experience of providing clinical supervision and case management to staff.

Knowledge and Experience

• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the aetiology of mental health difficulties

• Demonstrate core clinical skills; assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation of various mental health presentations

• Demonstrate knowledge and experience of applying evidence based practice with young people in a clinical setting

• Familiar with community based mental health strategies, including preventative programs, mental health promotion, awareness raising etc.

• Experience of providing clinical supervision and consultation to staff from a variety of different disciplines.

• Demonstrated experience of working with a broad cross section of staff and professionals working with young people

• Knowledge of the health system and ability to build
trust across the range of key partners

• Experience of planning and delivering training programmes
